We are delighted to announce that Flor de Maria Avellan from Nicaragua will be visiting the UK from 14-21 September. In addition to attending TUC Congress in Brighton, where she hopes to meet a wide range of trade unions, Flor de Maria will be speaking at a public meeting on Nicaragua, ALBA and regional integration to be held in London on Wednesday 16 September. A street seller from Managua, Flor de Maria is also Co-ordinator of the Women's Committee of the Self-Employed Workers Union, CTCP. She has a fascinating and inspiring story to tell. Come along and meet her and help yourself to a welcome glass of Nicaraguan rum!

The meeting will take place from 6.30-8.30pm at Unite, 128 Theobalds Rd, Holborn WC1X 8TN (Holborn). Dr Francisco Dominguez, Secretary of the Venezuela Solidarity Campaign will also be speaking, and Helen Yuill from the NSC will be introducing our newest briefing on ALBA. The meeting will be chaired by Dave Spooner, Co-Director of the Global Labour Institute and is supported by the Morning Star newspaper.
