Brigadistas have undertaken over 2 milion house to house visits during COVID-19 pandemic

NSCAG will be holding a free webinar on Thursday 28 May, from 6.00 - 7.30pm (UK time). Please see below for details and how to register.

Speakers will discuss the policies and measures being taken by the FSLN government to combat COVID-19 in the specific socio-economic context of Nicaragua, the role of the social economy and the continued demonisation of Nicaragua by corporate media. The webinar will also focus on the impact of the economic warfare being waged by the United States and the importance of defending Nicaragua’s sovereignty.

Speakers:-

Dr Florence Levy is from the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua and plays a key role on the National Assembly as President of the Commission for Indigenous Peoples, Afro descendants and autonomy issues. She is a medical doctor with a master’s degree in public health for developing countries and has almost 30 years’ experience working with the Ministry of Health, international agencies and international NGOs.

John Perry first visited Nicaragua in 1984 and has lived in Masaya since 2003. He writes about Nicaragua and Central America for the London Review of Books blog and other online periodicals and also acts as the local representative of the Leicester-Masaya Link Group which he helped to set up

Nicky Hoskyns lives and works in Nicaragua and the UK. Following a solidarity brigade in 1988 he was involved in founding a cooperative and developing the selling of Fair Trade sesame oil (to the Body Shop). He is currently the MD of Etico, the Ethical Trading Company, which is a member organisation of the Council for the Social Economy.
