Nicaraguan giants in solidarity for A Future That Works demo

Two Nicaraguan giants were among the 150,000 protesters at the March For a Future That Works, 20 October, convened by TUC. NSC, NSCAG and our highly valued supporters carried the two folklore gigantonas, two enanos (dwarves), the banner, and importantly, MESSAGES OF SOLIDARITY from Nicaraguan unions. In this time of unprecedented cuts threatening the most vulnerable sectors of society, we made the point:
NICARAGUA HAS A PRO-POOR BUDGET AND ITS ECONOMY IS GROWING!
Domingo Perez, Gen. Sec. of Nicaragua’s public sector union UNE (NSCAG’s partner) sent solidarity in support of all our actions today. “From here in Nicaragua we are in solidarity with you, we congratulate you on this great march on 20 October. The struggle is carried forward by mobilising, by uniting, by strengthening the unions, to combat right wing governments that want to sack the public purse and take away your rights.” This solidarity is valued and we must never forget that it is a two-way relationship of support.
